Hi there,

I've received an email from a debt collection company informing me that they have closed the account :j

Is this email legal and binding or should i get it on paper?

It should be legally binding, but paper is always better.

By "legally binding" I'm assuming that you're asking whether it's an enforceable contract. If it contains a contract yes it is. But beware "E&OE" because the sender of the email could claim unwitting errors and exceptions.

okay thanks. I suppose the proof is in the pudding.

How can I check that the account is actually closed though?

All you can do at this stage is ask them. After a while, it should show up on credit reference reports as closed.
