PPI charges for deceased

My Step mum used a financial firm to apply for her PPI refund. Her case was accepted and she received compensation, unfortunately she passed away before the case was finalised. We managed to have the amounts owed paid to my Farther and the amounts were paid into his account. Unfortunately he has also now passed away, and while looking through his paperwork I have noticed that the fees have not been paid. My question is simply do I have to pay the charges on his behalf as next of Kin. I have contacted them and asked the question and they insist that I do. If that is the case I will pay, just wanted to check if I am liable. I am currently awaiting letters of administration from the courts, but was able to have monies transferred by his bank to mine as it was less than £15,000

    Sorry for your losses.

Its a debt to their estate. So, if the money from your parents has been distributed, then whoever it was paid to has to pay the amount back.

So, if you were the sole beneficiary of the estate and have received the money then you need to pay the bill.

Which means you have to pay the bill.
