Door opening size help please

Hi we are joining 2 room together and felt we wanted to close the existing door opening and open up a new double door opening.

The size of the double doors we have picked is 54" or 1372mm but how much do I allow for the frame etc, what is the normal cut out you would do to end up with being able to use 54" of doors?

Also what height do I cut out?

Any help/advice appreciated.

You will have to know the size of the frame that you are installing. The frame (sometimes known as architrave) will have to be wide enough and high enough to fit your doors, which will give you the dimensions you require. You can shorten the frame but not change the width so choose carefully.
