We're finally completing today, hoping for an update from SOL soon. Not sure what to expect tbh. We're meant to collect keys at some point today (when instructed) from the EA. I'm excited but also quite nervous, couldnt sleep last night.
Any advise/ experience will be appreciated. Thank you all n advance. :j

First house? Prepare for stress, exhaustion and a few weeks of chaos. You'll love it (afterwards). Oh, and clearly mark the box with the kettle in it.
Best Wishes

Keep in touch with your solicitors and wait for a phonecall to tell you it's gone through!
Good luck
exciting times!
Have you got movers on standby?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Yes, it's our first house. Tried to do as much packing as I can, but still got a bt to do. I'll be taking my kettle and coffee in the car.
We have movers booked in but we won't be moving in for another week, as there's work scheduled to be completed. Hopefully that finishes as planned.0 -
You'll still want to be in there tonight!!
Do you have a blowup mattress and a sleeping bag?
Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Kettle & coffee excellent, although personally I prefer a mug to drink out of.
Expect frustration, delay, bafflement, etc - and hope to be disappointed. High odds of comms breaking down (so buy a cheap mobile & in car battery charger?) plus a map book (sat navs can go narcoleptic under pressure...)
Try to collect the keys with a bunch of flowers/box of chocolate/case of gin for whichever secretary has taken most of your calls?
If when you move in, the place is in a state, photo the meters and just get one room clear & clean enough to sleep & brew in. All else will (gradually) follow!
Best of luck!0 -
Should be picking up keys from EA. Going by the house to check fixtures and fittings match what was left, take meter readings etc. Work men in tomorrow to detail job list.
Still haven't heard anything from SOL. I imagine I'm not the only person they have completing today, so I'm being patient and awaiting a call.

Is the house occupied/owners moving out today? In that case don't expect the keys before lunchtime (and it could be later). And don't be shy about ringing your solicitor.0

Exciting King_Slayer!! I was too excited with the thunder here last night so completing hasnt really hit me until this morning!!
I have a bag prepared with prosecco & chambord (must not forget glasses) its too hot for tea :rotfl: cleaning/equiptment and hoover, food supplies. I have let gas/ electric supplier know a few days ago we are moving in today so just got to remember to send readings.
Oh and must not forget loo roll!!!
The wait now is for the mortgage company to release the funds then expect a call  hope it all goes smoothly for you!!
Edit: OH says it wont typically happen until about 2pm, especially those in a chain0 -
Lottielou was wonderig why I haven't heard from you yet!! Prosecco sounds like a great idea.

Well I'll cross my fingers for a call by 2
How are you getting on with your packing? Are you moving in today as well? :j0 -
Hello
prosecco is always a good idea!
Crossing my fingers for you! Are you in a chain? I would say if you have heard nothing by 1pm to give the SOL a ring, but hopefully they will keep you updated anyway! Hopefully they have less completions today with it being a Thursday.
Ive been going through my moving itinerary this morning. I thought I was organised but turns out we have run out of loo roll and coffee oops!!
Packing came to a standstill  but the important things are done and labelled.
We have a proper cleaning dan tomorrow and moving bits itin. Then we have the removal van booked for Sat to move the big things and will spend our first night there. We have the rented place till Tuesday, so the pressure is off. Are you having alot of work done before you move in?0
