This question is probably better asked over at Pepipoo.

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for speeding tickets.

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need photos/scans of all correspondence you've received about the charge (both sides, if appropriate).

    Here's your link.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The NIP is the responsibility of who it addressed to.
If they send one in your name, then that's your responsibility.

Many people will be along to flame and troll the answers, but basically that's the correct answer.

You may have other document offences that could unravel on themselves but they are separate matters.

Not necessarily ... the RK doesn't have to be the usual keeper. And it sounds like OP was on the ball in getting the RK details changed - just that DVLA were their usual inefficient selves.

OP - did you keep a proof of posting for when you sent the documents to DVLA?

if you can send a copy of the death certificate that should be the end of it.

Possibly but maybe not - especially if the date of death is before the date of offence.

They may re-issue the NIP once the DVLA updates the keepers details, or they may look at the insurance database and get your details from that.

I'm sorry for your loss - this amidst everything else.
Profound respect for being able to post & handle the responses, and for being accepting that these things happen.

Best of luck & hoping that one day you'll be able to look back on this & grin.

Yes I've got proof of posting to the DVLA. The offence was after my father passed away and of course the death certificate will show this if I send it on. Maybe in this case it's just best to keep quiet and see what happens as I understand it I'm not legally bound to answer the NIP as it was not addressed to me.
  • Thanks and to be totally frank if I didn't see these types of things as a government cash cow to fleece the masses further I'd probably just own up.
