Hi, swapping phones but need a micro sim, have been told that cuttin down is "Dodgy" any way I need to order a new sim to swap to, however if you try to do this on the 02 site, you have to choose bundles "£10" per month for example, I only want the old "Payg" ie top up when needed, how do I get this Ta.

I cut my SIM down and it worked perfectly. I used a printable template to get the size and craft knife along with a bit of sandpaper to clean up and fine tune.

You can buy cutters but they're not necessary.

Why not just pop into an O2 shop and they'll sort it out. This was my plan, the cut down SIM was only supposed to be temporary until I got a replacement, but worked so well I'm still using it years later.

Don't worry about the bundles offered. When the SIM arrives you can call 2202 for free, in order to change the bundle to Big Talker or International. Neither of those tamper with your credit. You'll get an allowance of data/text/calls when you Topup.

My understanding is that the OP already has a SIM. If so, a replacement one is needed, not a new one. O2 have to send it on request.

That said, I cut recently one SIM to nano size without any problems and any special tools.

Thanks, just to point out the guy in carphone warehouse put the sim into a punch, & showed that the contacts didnt line up "Centrally", ie a tiny sliver of the contacts would have been cut, he said that they couldnt cut it for us, even if they wanted to charge £5! the cutters are on e-bay for a few quid.

It's not a problem, especially for a micro SIM, and you can cut it a little bigger and then remove the final bits by sanding.

Contacts are big, but the chip is very small and is in the center.

That said, possibly, some SIMs can be designed differently.
