Ideas for used tea bags please?

Hi all, I drink loads of tea throughout the day, and I`m sure there must be something else I can do with them, besides chuck them away. Please let me know if you know of anything. Thanks.

  • Compost them? Or you could use them to dye paper like when you were a child at school to make the paper look old, and I have heard of people putting cooled used tea bags over tired eyes:eek: . These are the only three uses I know of for used tea bags!!

I'm wondering if I should try one of those tea infusers, I'm drinking more green tea, and the loose tea is cheaper.

That way there's only the tea leaves to compost.

Anyone tried using them? Or are they too much of a pest to clean so not enviromentally friendly if you're wasting too much water cleaning them each time.
  • u could use them to tan a animal skin as they contain tannin

If you want a good infuser You can buy these little metal ones (like a covered wire spoon that clips together) from Whittards, I just tip the leaves in the compost and shove mine in the dishwasher for cleaning.

But you don't even need to use an infuser if you make sure the water is exactly at boiling point. Then after a couple of mins the tea leaves will have all gone to the bottom of the cup. My mum has drunk earl grey loose leaf tea with no milk and for the last 23 years Ive been making it for her so can definitely say it works! I agree loose leaf is cheaper and you can mix and match different flovours of tea too.
