Long holiday, house insurance

We will be away for 3 months late Autumn, and L&G have told me certain conditions.
We will not be covered for theft despite neighbours popping in daily. Also, we need to turn the water off, and hence the heating for the whole period.
Any thoughts, what do other folk do on long holidays?

A borderline HNW policies allow for longer unoccupied periods and from memory people mention Saga a lot in this context but cannot say I've reviewed their wordings.
Alternatively there are dedicated unoccupied property insurance but they too can have clauses about having to drain the water or block up the letterbox after certain periods of time.0
