John Lewis charging for Click and Collect

I live miles from a JL store, but collect from Waitrose. I always buy groceries while they fetch my order, so they'll lose money from me.
Let JL know how you feel about the charge and how they will lose money from you wendym.
Who knows together we might just change the world?Former MSE user - I don't post on MSE anymore, or respond to PMs. I would like to be able to officially set profile to "former user" which would be helpful as it seems you can never leave MSE - just choose not to use it!0 -

Well if not change the world, annoy a few people. I have emailed.0 -
They could help themselves by getting a grip on their packaging. My latest order, around £20, came in 4 boxes. In one, the same height as me, were 2 rolls of wrapping paper, and in another were 2 bath ducks, which occupied about a tenth of the box's volume.0

I agree with the packaging, I have ordered shoes which have come in shoe boxes inside another box. Last order I placed for a school jumper was not very smooth. Email received on the day to say the order would not be ready, then no other email to notify my when it was, I feel the system is creaking under the strain.
I wonder how many people will bulk up their orders and then return unwanted items in store or via their free returns service, will this be the next thing to go?The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
...Anyone else wonder if John Lewis are in "trouble"?0

Your Kidding..... Right???They made £343m in profit last year. That doesn't sound like trouble to me.
Being that they are connected to Waitrose and that recently the glitches, free coffees and so on have been severally clamped down on.
Now John Lewis have cut back on the monthly free coffees they used to send out by voucher (now you're lucky if they send out one per 6 months, others get something like a spend £50 and we'll enter you into some sort of random competition to win something you probably don't really want).
Now they are charging for click-and-collect orders, I can see they are making a profit but either they have some sort of "we must always make a far far greater profit than we did last year" mentality or something's up. I get cutting the losses but they are really going-some.
I'm not complaining here- I don't often shop at John Lewis, people like me don't often have that sort of money!so it's no real difference to me what they do, I'm not fussed. I'm just watching and seeing a company slim down it's offers and costs to a similar or greater degree than even Tesco and Sainsburys who are in a lot of trouble, just trying to make sense of it all.

I think it is a bit annoying. I suspect people will order more then take it back so as not to implement the £2 charge. i think £20 is more reasonable.
I do shop a fair bit in JL0 -
