Yodel parcel missing

Hello!
I'm not sure if i'm in the right section but this one seemed the most valid so here goes. Please move my post if there is a more fitting board.
My partner has purchased a piece of electronic vaping kit from a lady in the Netherlands. She has paid £300 via paypal. The person has sent the parcel and gave us a copy of her receipt and tracking number.
Day go by....the parcel should be here by now.
We track the parcel only to find Yodel (delivery company) have not only said it's already been delivered BUT that it was signed for, under the correct surname! No parcel has arrived and on the date it was apparently delivered, nobody was home!
All of the neighbors have been asked (even though this wouldn't make sense as to why the signature displays the delivery surname) and the outside of the house has been checked over and over because I've heard Yodel are very very unreliable and leave parcels in silly places.
Because the sender wasn't a company it's not just a simple case of getting a refund because this item is very expensive, hand made and only 2 of them exist in the world. Yodel wont show us a copy of the signature and will only deal with the sender. Who is currently working hard with us to solve this problem
I know a LOT of people have had an issue with this delivery company, we have a choice of delivery otherwise we wouldn't have picked Yodel. My question is this, has anybody had an issue with Yodel and actually had it resolved?! I'm seeing a lot of people who've fought loosing battles. But we are out £300 and nothing to show for it.

Last time I had an issue with Yodel they had some kind of GPS tracking of the delivery, so they could tell if the driver was at/near the delivery address when it was marked as delivered. Ask about this if they haven't mentioned it.
Checked your bins? It wasn't bin day was it...?0 -
Just bear in mind that, unless you arranged the courier then you have no contract with Yodel.
If the seller arranged the courier then look to raise an Ebay claim?0 -

Yes, I considered saying something like that, but as the tracking info seems to say the parcel was delivered, the intended recipient is almost certain to lose any paypal/ebay case.0
