Hsbc account after bankruptcy?

Right, ive been discharged for 2 years now, and struggling just to get a basic account!
Cant use barclays, been in, and got rejected just for a basic cash account due to previous other dealings with them they're guessing.
Halifax i had a previous account with them which defaulted but i havent yet cleared up the defaults by providing them with my discharge papers, which i went in to do today theyre posting it off it should take upto 8 weeks but even then im not guaranteed even an easycash account due to the previous defaults.
Natwest, no go, tried with them too just for a basic account as i had a default with them (even though it is now satisfied)!
Co op got declined too, not sure why!!
Yorkshire bank got declined too!! Even after posting the £100 cheque etc!
So now im left with hsbc, does anyone know if theyre linked to any of the above banks ive tried, and is it likely they'll even give me a basic account if i go in with my discharge letter?
Anybody currently with them?
All im using right now for wages etc is my bank of scotland savings account which has a sort code and account number, but no debit card. If i want to buy something ive got to top up my talkhome cat card and use that as a debit card. My aim is just to have a basic account, so i can have direct debits going out too, which will slowly rebuild my credit score, and also i will have to ease of using a basic account with a debit card, no more messing about with topping up a pre paid card!

Hsbc says that you can have an account as long as you dont have a bank
Account anywhere else...
My halifax accounts that are still in default, will that still
Be classed as me having bank accounts, even though they have defaulted will it still show as them being open or?0 -
Have you tried TSB? they accepted me days after my discharge

Did you take in your proof of discharge? Did you get this from the court or just an email from discharge people?0 -

TSB is independent now, I didn't go in branch.
I applied online http://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/cash-account/, I didn't need to provide anything to prove I was discharged. I got my sort code and account number straight away.0 -

I'll try it now is it a basic account or current?
Have you checked your credit score or tried to clear it up in the way of defaults etc?0 -
Ive just been DECLINED!!
For the 'cash account'
Ive been discharged for over 2 years now, and im on the electerol at my current address, like i say ive still got 2 defaults that havent been cleared up but that shouldn't really matter should it?0 -
When you applied at Barclays, did you ensure the application was for a basic bank account?[ WHich is a 'current' account anyway, just no overdraft facilities or toys to play with]
If BArclays were a creditor, it is unusual for them to decline based on that fact alone.
However, it has been known for Barclays staff to apply for the wrong type of account....probably on the basis of assumption. Folk o here have been known to have had to emphasise the type of account they wish to open at Barclays. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

It's the cash account, have you checked your credit file to see if your bankruptcy shows discharged?
I've not cleaned my file up and probably won't as I've no intention of ever using credit again.0 -

Yes ofcourse, it was for a basic account and they were fully aware as i said im a discharged bankrupt as i had my discharge paper with me too. They said it got referred at first and the man said it could have been with previous accounts i had which i did default on, even though they now show at satisfied. This is the second time ive tried with barclays in 18months too, same thing last time.0
