Selling useless items at a carboot sale rant

I'm just wanting to vent really and I know its silly over a 50p item but its more the principle.
I took my kids along to carboot sale on sunday and they spotted a boxed doggie doo game I asked how much it was they said 50p so I handed over the money and took the game.
I never thought to ask its condition as it was boxed. I buy toys and games from charity shops and have never had a problem before.
When I got home my two excited boys were desperate to try it out.
Sadly doggie doo putty was dried out but I thought play doh would make a suitable substitute.
Then I realised the whole dog itself the main part of the game was blocked up with rock hard doo the game is useless.
I know if only 50p but why would sell a totally useless game for kids.:(
Now my kids want the game and its £19.99:eek: so its not just the wasted 50p I thought it would retail new at around £7.99 so 50p didn't seem ridiculously cheap at the time.

if people are selling things for 50p at a carboot sale, they're not going to take the time to check them all. If you want to make sure things are working correctly you need to take the time to inspect them. Carboots are definitely "buyer beware", I'm afraid.0

You could try sticking the dog under running water, as the way to soften hardened play dough is to wet it and knead it. If you wet it too much it falls apart, which is what you want!
Might workThe best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -

Might work
I ended up taking the whole thing apart and poking a long thin stick down it and managed to finally clear the blockage:T0 -

The lesson is, if you're paying 2.5% of rrp, the chances are you're buying doggie doo dah:D.0

I definitely don't recommend buying doggy doo doo's at a car boot sale!Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

Great replies guys:rotfl:
After clearing out and buying a tube of new playdoh it still wont work.
At least in future i'll be a bit wiser.0 -

My kids have this, Playdoh is to heavy, it originally comes with putty/slime. What you need is this http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/creativity-music-partyware/c-550/pocket-money/p-4521/toilet-noise-putty/
Its lighter so the air that pumps through the dog can push it out, if you put to much in it will get stuck still but you can just blow into it to get it out. you need to just use a piece about the size of a 50p
Hope this helps.:)0 -
Some people operate on the basis that "one man's rubbish is another man's treasure", and will simply put everything they don't want, even broken stuff in the car boot.
Last week, I bought a map of Dartmoor and every other word in the map is circled with weird notes next to it. I actually opened the map before buying it and didn't see it.
These people would fall foul on eBay and not last 5 minutes, but they are still live and well at your local car boot sale.
My general advice would be to carefully asses sellers and their prices and see if your expectations are in sync with what the seller is actually offering and buyer beware.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise.
