More Than insurance claim dodge?

I recently put a claim in with my insurance as my TV broke, my son spilt juice in. I had it inspected by a repair company prior to putting in the claim and he said it's not repairable but we both seen the juice in the Tv and the damage it caused. So I paid excess (which was £250 😠) they took the Tv and I have just had a phone call to say it 'natural wear and tear or the LCD screen' so it's not covered. 😡😡 I have been in touch with the repair Man I used and he said that's rubbish and is willing to talk to my insurance as well as a picture of the damage I took. I was just wondering if there was any one else I can go to help my case in disputing there claims. So angry, I would not recommend More than insurance to anyone.

This should really be on the insurance board. However, if you are unhappy with the response, make a complaint to the insurance company - preferably with written confirmation of the reason from the repair company.

If you are unhappy with the response to the complaint, go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Unfortunately for you and others whose offspring have damaged TVs by pouring juice down the back, Insurance Companies do tend to be very suspicious of this type of claim (even more so if the policy has only recently commenced) as its also an old favourite of the dodgy claimers along with "accidentally" kicking a pot of paint over an old carpet. As magpiecottage says all you can do is put in a formal complaint and if that doesn't work forward your complaint to FOS.

As a further thought wouldn't the excess of £250 have gone a long way to buying a new TV anyway?
  • I thought I had put it on the insurance board. And, I have had the insurance policy 3 years. Juice wasn't poured down the back of the TV, it was spilt and some juice ran down the screen and fried the cuircut board that runs along the bottom of the TV. We had a company check it to see if it could be fixed before we even went down the insurance root as they said if couldn't be repaired.
  • Also, we out weighed the buying a new one or pay the excess. And the excess of £250 was far cheeper the replacing a £600 TV

Don't forget that the price of Flat Screen TVs has come down dramatically so a TV that might have been £600 a few years ago would not cost that now - have a look at Richer Sounds for examples

More than are difficult beggars at the best of times and I had a pet insurance with them and when my dog went missing they claimed the insurance did not cover me offering a reward and I did put posters up and then got a call a day later and handed the person a very good drink for informing me.

I then emailed the managing director and stated why does the policy offer one thing when your staff have no clear outline on this and they then agreed to pay me back the money I had spent.
