in your radio and online article about landlines and broadband you fail to mention that both talk talk and tiscali ONLY cater for people with BT phone lines you do NOT mention that if people have NTL / VIRGIN then we are stuffed.
Tiscali AND Talk Talk DO NOT cater for us.....!!!!!
So although i can give 1 months notice with Virgin and they answered my call in 30 seconds and were very helpful, looks like my best bet is to stay with them, unless you can GENUINLY offer me a money saving tip to change phone and broadband that IS available to a VIRGIN customer (cable)
Also dont forget to tell people with the other 2 deals there are set up costs and they will need a modem AND router or combined. as a cable client who only previously needed a router will not suffice.

Have you been living under a rock for the past 5-10 years? The only service you can get on a cable network is the Virgin service!!!0

The only services you can get on cable are those provided by the cable company (where there is no competition anyhow - Virgin Media it is) because they are not compelled by the regulator to allow equal access.
OTOH, BT (and only BT) is compelled by the regulator to allow equal access (and even to allow others to install LLU equipment in its exchanges).
I think your less-than-subtle diatribe on Martin probably results from you just not knowing those very basic facts.
Welcome to the MSE forums anyway stevemitch2.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Most people with cable still have the BT wiring in their houses (assuming of course the cable companies did not remove it) and could quite easily "re-activate" this with BT or an LLU provider and THEN take advantage of the broadband deals. An existing Cable router won't work but there are plenty of providers giving free routers. Some customers have BOTH cable and landline deals running at the same time - my friend has Virgin Cable broadband + a TV package for something like £10 a month but also has BT phone service. It seems the possibilites are endless ! The boot can be on the other foot - large parts of the UK are not served by Cable at all so Virgin Media can only offer their ADSL alternative.0
