Am having a problem with my Archos 80 , switch it on and it just locks on the "Archos - entertainment your way" screen.
Have tried holding the power button for 15 seconds to re-set it .It powers off and just powers onto the same screen as described above.
Have let if run flat and the charged it but still the same problem.
Has anybody had the same problem , and fixed it ?
Thanks :money:

Had an Archos mp4 for about 8 Years without one problem.Never let me down once.
Also , my wife has the same tablet but not had a problem ( had both tablets about 4 years).
Might think about swapping my tablet with my wifesThe truth shall set you free.....................0 -
We are into 3 and over 4 years of Archos 101 titanium and 80 cobalt tablets costing less than £ 130 for the two and giving good service so far , firmware has been reflashed via the manufacturers website every twelve months or so .
We use different instructions for a hard reset :
1. Turn off tablet , Detach charger
2. Hold volume - key down
3. Insert charger while holding volume - key down
4. Release volume - button when Android logo appears
5. Press power and volume+ buttons briefly
6. Scroll through recovery menu to factory reset
Never failed us but might need reflash of update.IMG freely available via Arches from root of the device . Hope this helps .0 -
Thanks , tried the instructions and got through to that menu.Tried Factory resest but when I reboot it , the same problem is there.
I do get a picture of a poorly android laying down with the door open above his stomach and a warning triangle.
Tried connecting it to the computer but it says it fails as there is a fault with the drivers. The truth shall set you free.....................0 -
Oops sorry eyesight problems have stopped me using the forum , if its not too late here is what we did in that situation :
1. Did a soft reset via Settings menu to factory default , erasing the internal SD card
2. Copy the update.IMG file of 335Mb from the Archos site to the root directory of the tablet or to the empty internal SD card .
3. If the tablet is not recognised by your computer remove the external SD , copy the update.IMG file it via a card reader and then re-insert it into the tablet .
4 . Hard reset as per my previous post after copying the update.IMG file to the root or the internal SD card .
5. Rebooting the tablet which may take several goes (!!!!!!!) should find the update.IMG file for a fresh start as if out of the box.
This clumsy and fiddly process still works on both tablets now with 9 years useful life between them . Elegant no but cost-effective for our needs , hope this helps .0
