No, you were not ripped off. You missed an opportunity to earn tiny amounts of interest, amounts so tiny that you did not miss them.

You should be thankful that your loan application was declined. You would then have been trapped into paying substantial amounts of interest for many years to come. If you want something, just save up until you can afford it.

And don't worry about damage to your credit rating. Halifax MAY have carried out a search on your credit file, but this would only cause any real damage if you made three or so applications within a short space of time. And after a few months it will have zero effect.

READ ALL THE OTHER POSTS, ITS SEEMS LIKE IT WAS THE BANK WHO WAS OUT OF ORDER,

YES I KNOW THE 6 MONTH RULE THANKS,

I still don't understand why you think the bank was out of order

you could earn £145k a year - it still doesn't mean you would have got the current account automatically - you have to apply, new account number

you onbiously have a visa electron card - meaning not full current account

it was your responsibility, not the banks. just as it is to check your statements and interest rates

you are still upset you could not get the loan

No credit search would have been carried out on the loan as there is a trigger if it picks up your age and no full current account to cancel the loan. This would have not gone through to full app.

Well with regards to other post obviousley the bank could have said i was making no interest, also i want a loan so with them doing this it has made it difficult as i have not held a current account for long enough! With regards to credit searches i have 3 as i had to have one for the current account, one for the CC i got to make my credit better and the one loan which i was wrongly advised that i could apply even if i hadnt got a current account and they also said i had a strong chance of getting it when i had no chance at all as i hadn't held a current account for long enough, which i had told the woman. SHE DID GO THROUGH WITH THE APP ITS ON MY FILE IDIOT! At least now i realise banks arnt friendly and am checking every move they make. At 19 i dont think i have had enough life experiance with banks to understand them so i asked for advice thanks.

I feel that they have hindered my credit as i could have had a current account on my profile for over 18 months which makes it look better, if i wanted to buy a house now my credit would cost me as i have no history.

Im good with my money and saving but im not good with banks as i never understood or even was explained when opening accounts what happens and what each account is about!

There are some right nasty little gets on this forum and i hope you get whats coming to you, i was asking advice on if banks tell you this things, not asking for abuse.

About the loan, i have money tied up to pay it off if i came into difficulties but with the amount of interest they want, id prefer to get a loan as it isnt much!

Reading through this thread, the only abuse that is apparrent is from you directed to those who have politely offered advice.

Out of curiosity, why do some banks (in this case Halifax) wants a current account when you want a loan? I think having a basic account is not that bad, as you can pay back the loan using the direct debit facility, which basic bank accounts have.

Maybe i was a little abusive but when this happens to you it isnt nice,

yes i admit i never checked if interest was being added or never new what my account was as i never know the difference of a current account but who expects when they where told that it was a good rate of interest on my account that there was none!

Halifax have said one thing and then another about 3 times to me now which is wasting my time, I will see how they respond to me and take my accounts elsewhere as i have 4 with them.

Also people underminding me when i was asking for advice i feel is a little insulting, they dont know what i do or me or my life and i feel advice was asked for i didnt ask for silly comments like the application for a loan wasn't done when it sayd it in black and white on my report.

How the hell do they know what was and wasn't done, i said there was a search on my name as i have seen in and then they say there wasn't, can they see things or summat as how the hell do they know whats on my report unless they are going on it behind my back (which i doubt)

So people like that shouldn't bother on this sight as they cause unecessary upset.

Halifax are one of the only banks where you do not have to have a bank account with them to have a loan. Some banks say you can only apply for a loan if you bank with them and the direct debit must come from their account -this is not the case here.

But you do with Halifax under the age of 20 (for at least 6 months), otherwise you can not have one until you are aged 20 and over (any customer)

There is apsolutely no need for some of your comments when people were trying to help - I am sure some agree

The reason why you get some responses that you do is because of the way you react, as you create the same or similar threads many times, rather than have one thread going

I have worked for HBOS for years, so am sure I know what I was talking about. The adviser should have told you straight away before even going in to the loan system , about your age being a problem and no qualifying account

I would think it would be a footprint on your file rather than a credit score

and of course you would have a credit score for your credit card - totally different thing all together than the loan. It is still your responsibility to check your bank account. Sorry you don't like what you hear, but when I first responded it was to help, and we get it thrown back in all our faces

I know but when i know there is a search on my histpry and i wanted advice on was i given the right information when another halifax employee said it was unfair as i should have had my account upgraded as they could see i had a reletivly good amount of money going in and with two savings acount regulary used the employee said something had gone a miss.

My reaction may well have beenharsh but this is my life, my name and my credit score they are messing with (bank) and i wanted help on what to do next not where i went wrong.

You learn from your mistakes and i have as i keep a close eye on my accounts now but i wanted advice on is there anything i could do if i needed a loan ASAP which i dont for now.

I do many threads as they dont get bumped and i loose them so i make new ones with new titles and this is in a different part of the forum.

Is there any way of a bank looking at a file, seeing your mistake of applying too many times or whatever and look at my income and outgongs and how much money i have in other places (accounts not with halifax) and base the loan on that. They can see out of my car insurance credit, my laptop credit and my CC that all are up to date, never late or missed and the loan for laptop settled that i am a good customer, they can also see that when in difficulty i have enough money to pay off the loan. I have my reasons for not using my savings and other money i have got but that is personal and for now a no go area but if i got into difficulty, i would have to use them.

£130 isnt much, and £700 over 3 years (i intend to pay off early) i dont think is that bad and I am HAPPY to pay that in interest!

Sorry for my short temper but only respond if you going to help, dont just call me for my mistakes as your wasting everyones time!

    Thanks
