Money Abroad

Hi all, I'm kinda new, so please be patient!
I am travelling away this summer to the States for 5 - 6 Weeks and I need to take a fair bit of spending money with me (accomodation etc is all sorted already!). I need perhaps $600 - $700 dollars THROUGHOUT the total time I'm away!
So I got a few questions! What's the best way to take the money? I'm guessing card, for safety but, my age stops me getting a credit card, so I need a Under 18 (but over 16
) bank account , with ZERO or LOW conversion fees and service charges! I think it needs to be a Debit card for most places to take money abroad!
If anyone advises not taking a debit card, and using something else, then please tell me what and why!
I do plan on taking cash too, but not large amounts!
So which account would you all say is the best, and what are there charges (if any
)?
Appreciate your help. Also, what a great board, saved me and my family/friends a fair bit!

Just found a previous post! Sorry if I've 'Cluttered' the forum!
Well, I have the Pinky/Red Nationwide Flexaccount Cash Card, that's not a VISA though! I know Nationwide charge zero commision on cash withdrawals from a VISA/Credit card, but they don't mention my FlexAccount Cash Card. They do talk about FlexAccount Visa, is this the same as what I have?
Hope someone can help me out
Cheers,
