SSE meter change (solar)

We are in a housing association property and they want to install solar panels (which we are fine with). The survey by the solar installation company has stated the Meter is an older type and incompatible with the panels and needs to be changed. (He said SSE are legally obliged to change it.)

I contacted SSE via their online contact form and heard nothing back so rang and was told the panels need to be fitted before the meter can be changed but the Housing Association have said they need the meter in place before the panels can be added.

I contacted SSE via their online form again and heard nothing back. I emailed their customer service email address and after more than 2 working days have still heard nothing.

The panels now have an installation date for a week today!
Are SSE deliberately stalling because they are going to lose out? The only thing left is to ask the Housing Association to contact them as SSE are pretty much ignoring me at the moment..

Well another phone call has things moving on this at last. SSE say they will contact the Solar fitters and ask why the meter has to be changed specifically in this case. We should hear back today/tomorrow. Will update if I get anything further.

Update: according to the company installing it is now not a problem and the meter should be ok. All that fuss and phone calls. grrrr

Meter will be upgraded anyway a week after solar panels are fitted and, eventually, SSE were helpful. Just could have done with more communication via their online forms first. Alls well that ends well.
