Scam Or Real Deal?? Anyone Know?

http://www.medisoncelebrity.com/

Several things I've read are saying people are a bit suspicious of this company. Has anyone brought one of these ... did they actually recieve it?

Did a search of forums but couldnt see anything related

There was a huge thread on this. Safely established its probably a scam, I think somebody worked out components would cost them more than the price they were selling it for.

I don't think anyone knows for a fact yet one way or the other. Some people have ordered through 2checkout so they have buyer protection and we'll have to wait and see if anything materialises. Personally I'd wait until people actually receive them (if they ever do). My bet is a scam though.

Although that's also the case with the Sony PS3. But I suppose a new startup company wouldn't be able to make a loss leader and absorb the losses in the same way a big multinational such as Sony could do. Then again Amazon actually started out as a huge loss making business.

Well they have some big brass ones if it is a scam:

And here's a site completely dedicated to tracking the company:

One thing that should not be forgotten is that if someone IS able to market a cut-price laptop then they will almost certainly have found a creative way to do so that no-one else has thought of before - hence the rather suspect nature of the deal.

Perhaps we've been so conditioned by the 99% reliable "if it's too good to be true, it's probably not" that when the 1% comes along we feel uncomfortable enough to ignore it. We should also bear in mind that other laptop manufacturers may have been exploiting this comfort zone of ours to charge above the odds and Medison could be the first to break ranks.

Have I ordered one? Yes, I have. After initial suspicion, I took the trouble to e-mail 2Checkout who are a reputable company managing online orders for the Medison Celebrity. They confirmed that no money will ever be released to the Medison company until it is confirmed that the paid-for computer has been shipped, and I can have my money back at any time on request. The first shipment is due to go out in two weeks.

I'll be watching developments carefully as this may indeed be too good to be true, but I'm secure in the knowledge that an independent company with an excellent reputation is looking after my cash and I will get it back if the Medison Celebrity turns out not to exist.
