hi, first time on here, but I've just had a quote off someone from uniplast for soft fits and guttering and it came to £3000, he said that they would also have to do something about the felt.. forgot what but something about it.
that price was before he said that he could offer us a better deal, but would require to take a before and after photo for their own purposes so would settle with £2022..
this is for a 3 bed semi detached house, and he said the measurement was for 27m2..
is it too much?
thank you

Get some more quotes from other suppliers then you'll know whether or not its too much. Don't be afraid to haggle and push the price down as much as you can.
Soffits is the word0 -
I never do business with people who quote one price, but then suddenly offer you a much lower price for apparently no reason whatsoever other than to get your business."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Especially if they say other work is necessary but don't take the time to explain what &/or why.
I would get more quotes as previously suggested. You also need to know if they're just cladding the existing soffits, some people do this as it's cheap but not a good idea.
I just put soffits into google & the first few hits have some interesting info that you should have a look at. I am not recommending any company, just browse for info. Knowledge is power!
Btw, if the quote was from someone who just knocked on your door don't touch it.0 -
Have a look at the thread (currently) on the 2nd page about soffits & fascias, looks like your quote is on the very high end.0

I was recently offered a "free quote" for my soffits etc on my semi. I intended replacing them next year when I'd saved some money, so I accepted the offer, just to get some idea of what it would cost me. The salesman came up with a figure of £1750, if I ordered there and then. I turned it down , he offered me a finance plan, I explained I preferred to save and pay cash, and I couldn't afford it just now.
He then asked what price would interest me, I said under a £1,000, thinking this would conclude our business. Instead he offered £950 to replace: soffits fascias, barge boards, guttering and repair any damaged roof beam ends, I accepted and the work was done within a week.
I wish I'd said less, but friends have paid over £2000 for similar work.
Plead poverty and see what they offer.0 -
