Admiral Boiler cover; any good?

Both my home insurance and boiler breakdown cover are due for renewal next month.

My current home insurance provider, UIA, wanted £220 for the year for buildings and contents. After some online searching I found that Admiral could offer me the same cover for £180, although with a higher voluntary excess. Crucially, however, this Admiral policy included Boiler breakdown cover, meaning that I could also ditch my current Homecare policy with BG. I'll have to pay separately for an annual boiler service, but I know of a local RGI who can do this for a reasonable price. Even factoring in that cost I'll save 120 quid a year.

Question is, does anyone else have experience of using the Boiler Breakdown Cover provided by Admiral with their home insurance policies? BG have always been very good, but they were just getting too expensive.

Is it boiler breakdown cover? All I can see is boiler emergency cover.

    Is it equivalent to Homecare?

    Apologies for the late reply.

I'm taking a punt by going for this inclusive feature of my home insurance policy rather than continuing to pay 15 quid a month or so for a full breakdown cover policy.

Financially, things are a little tight at the moment, and it struck me that one of the areas in which I could save money was by ditching the full repair cover for an policy that covered a variety of household emergencies, but which (as it says on the tin) provides only for emergency repair rather than full replacement of defective parts. So no, its not equivalent to Homecare, not by a long chalk.

In 12 months time I'll know whether the decision bit me on the backside or not.
