Returning a faulty item with no receipt

I bought a bag in Clarks a few months ago but don't have the receipt. I have used it once and noticed that the zip is now coming away from the lining. Am I within my rights to return it to them and ask for a replacement?

Receipt is proof of purchase so they can say no as you could have picked it up in the street.

How did you pay, a bank or CC statement can be used as proof if you paid with card.

Well, you should be covered under Sales of Goods Act but it would certainly help to provide some additional information:

    - Proof of purchase (to demonstrate that you didn't just pick it up out of a skip a few days ago). Bank statements are generally decent at that.

    - The date you bought it. If over 6 months ago then it is potentially going to be a bit of a hassle because you may have to show that it is faulty (and not damaged/wear and tear)

Also, "I have only used it once" does not count for anything. It will go off the time frame which you have had it.
