I bought a bag in Clarks a few months ago but don't have the receipt. I have used it once and noticed that the zip is now coming away from the lining. Am I within my rights to return it to them and ask for a replacement?

Receipt is proof of purchase so they can say no as you could have picked it up in the street.
How did you pay, a bank or CC statement can be used as proof if you paid with card.0 -

Well, you should be covered under Sales of Goods Act but it would certainly help to provide some additional information:
- Proof of purchase (to demonstrate that you didn't just pick it up out of a skip a few days ago). Bank statements are generally decent at that.
- The date you bought it. If over 6 months ago then it is potentially going to be a bit of a hassle because you may have to show that it is faulty (and not damaged/wear and tear)
Also, "I have only used it once" does not count for anything. It will go off the time frame which you have had it.0
