today i applied for UC, is there really no option to be paid weekly, how do they expect you to survive for a month with nothing to begin with?

Sadly there isn't. It's 5 weeks from the date of application online.


You can apply to your Jobcentre Plus (JCP) for an advance payment, but even this may only be possible once your claim is processed, so may not be much quicker.

In principle, also a short-term benefit advance may be an option.
