I never see the !!!!!!s but each morning there is slug/snail slime in my lounge on the carpet... the !!!!!!s are obviously doing this when I am asleep during the night. They only seem to be in the one room luckily (thankfully not in the kitchen).
What tips and tricks can people suggest I do to rid myself of these nasty little things?

If you don't have kids or a dog/cat, you could try putting down some slug poison."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

(thankfully not in the kitchen).
Might be easier to clear up on a hard surface rather than a carpet.
Slugs can get thru the smallest gap , so advice about sealing holes is not helpful.
Slugs like damp, where is it damp ?? cure that and you are home and dry.
Could be a lone slug that is 'trapped ' in your room. Find it and remove,
Stick a damp newspaper in the middle of room and hope the slug is still there tomorrow. ( reading the obituary's) !0 -
Slugs chuffing love beer.
Leave a deep bowl with a few inches of beer in the effected area then the next morning you will find a drowned slug in the bowl, or he'll get pished smash the place up and order pervy channels from sky whilst munching on a kebab.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
As above, find and remove, but then identify the source!
Ours was a damp and rubble filled void under the floorboards. We cleared this out, added more ventilation air bricks and so far so good.0 -
A product that stops the slime secreting membrane of slugs and snails is fertosan. It is expensive. I put mine in a dry recycled vinegar bottle with a narrow neck. I then hold it to leave a narrow white trail of powder that slugs and snails can not cross, they shrivel and die. I use it to make a circle around brasica seedlings. If you can observe where the slime trail begins then make a short line perpendicular to the end so no slug can use that route again.
As suggested already you have to locate where the slugs are living as they will lay eggs. The kitchen is where the fresh food they eat is stored so they will visit there even if you do not see the slime trail.0 -
+1 for a few slug pellets.
I sprinkled a few near to the trails one evening. Next day, 1 dead slug, no more mess.0 -

table salt is also quite effective as a deterrent, they don't like to cross it.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
