company credit card panic

My employer is about to ask to get me put on the company credit card so that i can use it for purchases i make at work. My panic is that i have been turned down (personally) for credit recently and am about to embark on a DMP with payplan although havent formally started this yet. My question is, am i likely to be turned down or do they not credit check company card holders (the bill would not come to me and is not paid by me)?

I am worrying myself silly here as i cannot afford to have my less than perfect financial situation become public knowledge.

Anyone that can give me some reassurance (or otherwise?) - it would be much appreciated.

Not sure I can help much but I was in a similar position to you, I was asked to be a signaturee on a community account for youth club, I admitted to my boss that I doubted I would pass credit check, she then reasurred me it would only be an identity check so not a problem.

I would be upfront with your boss that way he can either do what happened to me or at least he won't be embarrassed if he had to tell you that you had been turned down.

You could ask your employer... Just tell them you have recently changed some personal financial accounts round and had some credit searches. You're worried that because you know more than 3 seaches in a short time might result in a rejection etc you might fail a credit score and you would obviously prefer not to have a failed application on your personal record.
This would be a perfectly legit reason to ask and possibly prevent a search although I don't think they would be doing a search on you but I honestly don't know... :)

It will depend on whether your company pays the bill or you are expected to pay any or all of it.

If it is a true company credit card then the company are liable for all of the debt even though they may ask you to contribute if you use it for your own use.

If however it is a card in company name only but you are billed then they will credit check you.

Agreed, the company are responsible for paying the credit card bill, so that's all that the credit card company is interested in. it'll just be an identity check, not a credit check.
