Santander Text Charge

I received a text from Santander asking me to text back Y/N (07797800043) about a transaction. I believe it's a good thing, however now I see I have been charged 25p and I get free texts. Just a heads up to the rest of you.

  • Contact Santander to complain and they will refund the cost (in fact, they added £5 to my account for the inconvenience). They are looking in to this issue.

The 07797 number range allocated to Jersey Telecom apparently.

It's odd that Santander doesn't, at least, use a UK number as most of the customers who receive these messages will be in the UK.

I had a call about a transaction from Capital One whilst I was in South Korea. It took about 40 seconds to sort it out and then despite me insisting that I wanted to end the call as I was abroad the woman kept yapping away for ages. After a few minutes I just hung up but it cost me the best part of £5.

Santander "Private banking" is located in Jersey, just an observation.
