Life cover for new mortgage

Im just taking out a new mortgage, can anyone recommend the cheapest product to cover my life/critical illness? Ive looked at Legal and General and Aviva, but wondered if anyone had any good recommendations? As its for a mortgage would it be better to take out "mortgage protection" instead? Would this be cheaper? The mortgage broker I spoke to said he offers 5 star life cover, but my budget is more 2 star!! Any help would be great. Thanks

Do you need Critical Illness if its going to be a budget policy that only covers a couple of conditions and then only at their most sever?
Your best off speaking to an advisory protection broker or an IFA who'll be able to compare both full fat and budget offerings for you. They will inevitably ask what Plan B is if the near worst happens and you become sick an unable to work again.0
