    Hello,
    A friend of mine had legal aid for her divorce in 2012, in which after a long 8 year divorce battle ( ancillary relief, contact etc) ended up with £25,000 legal aid bill. A statutory charge was placed on her property in which once the property was sold she had to pay it back.
    Unsure if matters have changed since then.
