Just wondering guys is it possiblesible to get free legal aid for a divorce? If not then how much would have to be paid after?
If I couldn't afford to pay it and didn't could ejo get involved and take the belongings of the house or would they negotiate to pay a small fee each week or so of a small amount?
Any reply be appreciated. Don't know much about this kinda stuff

Wikivorce is probably a good forum to use. If you can come to agreement the divorce could be a few £100s. If no agreement and drags on, this could go into £1,000s0

Not sure if you can but I do not agree personally with getting Legal Aid for a divorce. Grown Adults should be able to sit down with a mediator and compromise without things being dragged through courts... Complete waste of money.... Mediators should have more power too though also to tell people when they are taking the proverbial with their demands..0

No. You cant get legal aid for a divorce - nor should you be able to.
A divorce isnt THAT expensive, if you can be adult about it, and costs could / should be split.
Also, if you can agree on a separation agreement, then thats probably enough for the time being.0 -

Wikivorce appears to cover the law in England - NI Divorce law is different.
OP you can divorce without the help of a solicitor - there is a helpful booklet on the CourtsNI website here. Certainly worth reading that first.
Good luck.0 -

Sorry Donna but that's not even remotely true.
Legal aid is still available for divorce in Northern Ireland. OP contact a solicitor, provided you meet the income test you should be able to get free advice.0 -

I think Donna may have been a bit tongue in cheek on that post.... i.e. only real criminals get free legal services not us mere Joe Public0 -
Legal aid can be obtained for some Civil cases. As far as I know you can get it if the case means your home is at risk.0

It's means tested. You can get it for many of different cases. Divorce, debt, personal injury, medical negligence, immigration issues, benefit issues etc.0
