Student buy to let property - where to start?

Students want to live in the city centre or as close as possible to the University buildings
So Victoria park or along the Oxford road corridor would be a good place to start.
BTL really is a long term investment and keeping a property for 15/20/25 years should be your long term aim.0 -

Yes, we are looking at Fallowfield and Victoria Park.
As for how long we would have it, it would be a pension investment so 10/15 years maximum.0 -

My ex husband's family lived in Fallowfield - it was a bit of a dump then but I believe it's gone up in the world recently.0 -
Well, it is student city and to be honest it is absolutely not somewhere I would choose to live, but for the purposes of a student let it is the place to buy in Manchester.0

Luckily, when I was a student in Manchester, the course at the Polyaswas was based in Didsbury - which is still the only area of the city I'd care to live.0 -
Typically students seeking private houses to rent in favour Fallowfield, Victoria Park area has a lot of private halls so the market and competition is rather different.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We bought our Fallowfield student property in the June and 10 weeks and over £30,000 later it was ready for the September arrival of students.
Old house which needed everything doing and is now a 6 bed property. ( After extension which cost even more money)
We will be putting advert on MSH in November and have students signed up before Xmas ( this is how quickly the good properties GO)0 -

Are you an experienced student landlord or is this your first propety?
What rent/deposit do you charge (if that is not too rude a question)
What do you wish you had known before you started?
Was it onerous to get a license for above 5 beds?
Do you use a letting agent?
What is MSH?
Many thanks:D0 -
In a word yes
Some students are now asking to stay over the summer as well!0
