Resisting takeaways

If I know I m going to bne late , I buy a small french stick. Then cut it half lenghth ways.
Cover it in Tom Sauce. and loads of chees and then and odds and sods like a bit of bacon , some sweet corn , chicken , chopped peppers etc.....
Voila a pizza stick
Also helps get rid of bits of food in fridhe that dont make a whole meal0 -
Have you got a timer on your oven? You could set the oven to come on whilst you're out & go off just as you come through the door - hey presto pizza/lasagne or whatever is ready! We sometimes put oven chips in and have a chilli or curry in the slow cooker & when we get in just pour it over the chips - lovely! (Also, if you are down the pub & you know the oven is turning itself off at a certain time, you make sure you leave rather than be tempted to have another drink, saving you more money!!!)0

We tried the Sainsbury's indian takeaway for two the other day. It was on the reduced shelf... definitely worth checking out as a cheaper alternative to 'the real thing'. :-) They're often on the reduced shelf in our branch!Have I said something useful?

What's to resist? I doubt I have more than one takeaway per year!
I am the same - the last time I ordered a take away was in March. I have to be totally desperate to order one because by the time I have found the leaflet, chosen, ordered then waited for at least 30 mins for delivery or collection I find myself thinking that in that time I could have at least chopped and cooked onion ,garlic, courgette and a pan of pasta and grated some cheese for a quick tasty cheap and healthy meal.
I do sometimes get a craving for Chinese takeaway (see above for my last takeaway!) but when I eat it I think "that's why I haven't had one for so long!:rotfl:" . Then wait months for the next craving.0 -

I should have added that I've never had one delivered (and never will)!Stompa0 -
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, most people love a takeaway, it's simply a case of using control sometimes!
I do find that thinking of the time factor is often enough on a friday/saturday when a curry could be half an hour to put us off ordering, but as others have said sometimes, only a curry will do!
My standbys are very similar to others,
HM pizza,
chilli and nachos ( batch made chilli in freezer portions, value tortilla chips, HM guacamole if an avocado is around, grated cheese and a dollop of natural youghurt),
Slow cooker dall curry
stir fry with HM sweet and sour sauce and prawn crackers
chicken wraps...can be made into burritos etc if you can be bothered, but my kids love assembling their own!

Why??
It's free to have most types of takeaway delivered and unless you live within walking distance it saves you petrol. Plus you can get on with bits round the house while you're waiting rather than having to hang around in a restaurant.
It all seems good to me or am I missing something blatant? :huh:Te audire no possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.0 -

Doesn't free delivery only apply if you spend more than a certain amount though? It all seems good to me or am I missing something blatant?
Still more expensive (and probably less healthy) than making something yourself though...Stompa0
