  • Hi A Frayed Knot

I have a spreadsheet that works it all out for me. Essentially I've worked it out month by month and I have a bit that does what the mortgage actually is (so with OPs) and a bit that works out what it would have been if we didn't OP.

Then it's just a case of looking at the difference.
  • £150 knocked off the honeymoon fund after getting the floor done. Any other home improvements we will try and do out of the normal monthly budget rather than taking anything out of the savings.
  • Another good chunk back into the honeymoon fund - £35 knocked off the budget as we found our hotel cheaper than planned. £85 for the hotel paid by OH without taking any money out of savings so £120 added to the honeymoon fund putting it back up to £891.47, puts us back to 17.8%.

I would like to see it hit 20% by the end of the month which means another £108.53. Hopefully doable, although we are away at the beginning of September so lots of spending to be done then!
  • It's been a couple of weeks since I updated because not much has happened money wise! Now it's payday for me which means my own finances have been updated. An extra £156.06 has been added to the uni fund for next year in the following ways:
£56.06 leftover from last months budget
    £50 paid off credit card
£50 added into savings for the start of the month

Joint budget stuff happens tomorrow so more updates to come then!
  • Woops, never got back online to update the goals!

We added £60.67 to the honeymoon fund making it £952.14 which is 19% saved now.

We are now up to £7130.60 paid off the mortgage so 71.4% of the way towards that goal.

All in all things are going fairly to plan! We finished paying off our furniture this month as well so that's another £100 a month to save. Just deciding whether to save it all or OP some as well. Depends on how much 0% credit we use for the honeymoon I guess!
  • Right, time for a goals update! I am terrible at updating this as I go along but am keeping track of the goals as I go!
The wedding budget keeps going down at the moment as we get things for the best process we can! So that now stands at £1396.71/£1396.71.
This means that our honeymoon fund now stands at £1336.69/£5000 or 26.7%. I'm fairly happy with that at the moment! Especially as we also have individual savings that can go towards this totalling another £1100 ish which I'm not counting here.
Our mortgage now has £7632.54 paid off out of the £9990 we are currently aiming for which is 76.4%. That's an extra 5% since last month and therefore we are due to hit that goal in 5 months.

  • Hi Luckyinlife, thanks for popping by!

The mortgage stands at approx. £181k now so still quite a way to go!!
  • OK quick goals update for the month:
The wedding budget has gone up again, although this is still subject to a lot of change, I'm tracking it as we go.
This means our honeymoon fund has dropped slightly (about £30) to £1304.66 which is 26.1% of our budget with 10 weeks to go! We are planning on putting some of this on 0% credit so not a huge problem.
We have no paid off £8119.35 of the mortgage which is 81.3% of this goal. On track to nail this one in 4 months time.
My second year uni fund currently stands at £539.71 which is 19.9% of the target. Still don't have a set target for this yet as they haven't billed me for my course for the year yet, I'm sure they will realise this soon and send a bill!
