Experian not helping

Hello all,
I'm just after a bit of advice.
In 2005 my ex took out a secured loan against her house. I wasn't named on the mortgage despite her promising that I would be once the loan came through.
Anyway, in 2013 I left the evil witch and took my daughter. (I won full custody as I was able to prove she was an unsuitable alcoholic mother and that I suffered domestic abuse)
She refused to pay the secured loan and recently she has sold her house.
When I was with her she took my bank cards off me and changed all the passwords to online banking etc so I had no idea what was going on.
She also used my name and details and took out several pay day loans and credit cards but thats a whole other issue.
Over 2 years later and after the sale of the house the loan is still showing on my Credit report and as she refused to pay it, this loan is having a massive negative affect on my score.
Experian said they contacted the loan company and they replied saying that I had to speak with them. I called the loan company but because I have absolutely no idea about the account I cannot pass the security questions and they wont speak to me. I raised it with Experian and they sent a query to the loan company explaining that I know nothing about the account and the loan company replied to Experian asking them to tell me to contact them!
I'm stuck in a loop that I can't get out of and no one will help me.
I dont want to write to the loan company as I dont want them knowing my address and sending bailifs for a debt that my ex should have paid off when selling her house.
I'm very worried about the whole thing as I'm trying to build a new life for myself and my daughter and just when I think I'm getting somewhere I seem to run into these brick walls.
Can anyone offer any kind of advice to get me out of this hole. It really feels like my ex has still got her evil claws firmly gripped on me.

From what you've posted, it seems it's not your debt at all? ie it was in her name alone, secured against her house?
In which case, you need to write to them, disputing the debt and asking them to prove it. Hopefully that will force it to a close and get them to remove it from your credit file.
But are you sure that it was not also in your name?0 -
Hi,
The loan was taken out in joint names as she promised to add me to the mortgage as part of the application process. When the money came through I asked her when I'd be added and she said that she'd lied to get the money and that I would never be on her mortgage.
She took all the money and paid off debt she'd run up in the past and spent the rest on herself.
All the loan company said was that the account is still active. They wont give me any further details as I can't answer the security questions.
I dont understand how the account can still be active even though the house has now been sold.0 -
Hi Mickb123.
I can see that this is a difficult position to be in and am sorry that you feel Experian have not been able to help.
For the loan to appear on your report then Itake it that the loan was in your name or a joint loan. If this isn’t the case and it’s anassociation appearing on your report you would be able to apply for a financial disassociation from your ex-wife.
If the loan is in your name, all theinformation that we can supply about the loan would be on your report. Contactingthe lender with a copy of the entry that appears on your report should beenough for them to locate the account, although I appreciate that you do notwant to write to them.
You would also be able to add a notice of correction to your report to let lenders know your situation, they can then chooseto take this into account when you apply for credit.
If there are other accounts that your ex-wife took out in your name without your knowledge then you may want to report theseas fraud and we can get them investigated for you.
Kind Regards

Hi Neil,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.
The loan was a joint but secured on her house which was in her name only.
I have already been through the financial disassociation and completely disassociated myself with her.
I'll send off the notice of correction now!
I reported all the other things as fraud and its being dealt with by the police fraud department. She's also committed benefit fraud which I've also reported.
And luckily, she's not my ex wife just ex partner! I escaped that one!
Thanks again for your reply0 -
If the loan is jont, then they will continue to chase either or both of you. You won't be able to disassocate from her while you still have a joint financial product.0

It shows on my Experian report and I've had confirmation from Experian that I have been disassociated from her!
I've sent off a notice of correction so hopefully I'll hear back from that soon!
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to me! Thank you0
