Post IVA credit file clean up
I'm having trouble understanding what should and shouldn't happen with a credit file during and after an IVA. I completed early with a F+F settlement and a few months after this was the first time I had a look at my credit file. I found that all the accounts are now closed and showing as settled. However, some of the accounts have monthly defaults applied from the start of the IVA right up to when it was settled. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that the file should be clear from the IVA start date.
I spoke to 1 of the creditors and they explained that they were correct to continue applying defaults but it didn't matter as their entire entry would fall off 6 years after the IVA start date.
I've tried to get the IVA charity I used to confirm which is correct but they seem unable or unwilling to do so and just keep referring me back to the creditors. I'm happy to take this up with the creditors but I don't know whether they have done anything wrong!

Yes, it is correct to show a D or 8 every month between the IVA start date and settlement date.
As said, the whole record will fall of 6 years from the first default.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
