Hmm, interesting - I had exactly the opposite experience. I left Lloyds about 7 or 8 years ago precisely because they treated me so badly. Despite the fact that I'd moved from Lincolnshire to Bristol, they refused to change my account branch, saying that I could do everything I wanted from any branch - but when I asked to extend my overdraft limit it was "we can't do that, you'll have to call your home branch to do that". So I did, and they agreed to extend the limit. But they didn't - and thus when I made a payment that should have cleared, it bounced and they charged me.
Even when I transferred my account over to Co-Op, Lloyds still managed to !!!! things up - my new account got set up fine, and the balance was transferred and all the direct debits were set up on it etc. But Lloyds didn't cancel them from the account that I was closing!
For some reason I hung onto my Lloyds credit card - but that was just as much of a mistake. A couple of years later, when I called in with my bank details to set up a direct debit to pay the minimum charge on the card, they instead set up a direct debit with the bank details of my old, long closed Lloyds bank account!! Unsuprisingly, the first bill that came throught the payment bounced and they then tried to charge me! When I called up to query it, the person on the phone said "Oh yes, I can see the bank account details you gave here in the account notes", and read out to me my Co-Op bank details ... so they'd taken down the details I gave them, and proceeded to set up a debit on completely different details, for the old Lloyds account - without even checking that it was active!
Co-Op, on the other hand, have been a pleasure to deal with the entire time I've been with them. The only time I had a problem was when I asked if I could set up a temporary overdraft facility as I thought that I might need it for a week or so at a tight time - and didn't tell me that they would charge me £15 to set up the o/d facility even if I didn't use it. As soon as a I saw, I called them and they refunded it without question. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
