I just had a Skype pop up on my Win 8.1 laptop - which I didn't request or even install
How do I dispatch it from whence it came - It doesn't appear on the program list or anywhere else that I can see
I am guessing that MS think that we all use Skype and install it as default ?

Can't really answer, as I use Win7.
BUT if you value your privacy, NEVER use the standard version of Skype, it takes your old MSN account, links all your old contacts into Skype, then if you've used the same email for Facebook, it goes and links MSN to Skype to Facebook and sends out friend requests to all.
Basically it assumes we're all socialites who want to share our entire life with everyone we've ever conversed with. They must be working with Facebook somehow.....
Me personally, I keep everything separate, so you can imagine how p*ssed off I was when I logged into Skype after the MSN messenger merge/migration.
Get rid of that junk and if you ever have to use Skype, download the business/commercial version.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I think it may be an app installed by default on Win 8.1. I found it flaky and have gone back to the normal desktop version. I don't use my normal email on facebook so haven't had any tie up (thankfully)0
