EON Changes to Feed-In Tarrif Terms and Conditions

Malc,
Any new or updated t's & c's are unenforceable, you can put what you like but they mean nothing. The only ones that matter are the ones that were in existence at the time the contract was formed, as my FiTs supplier found out to their detriment.
I do not quite agree Tunnel. Is there not a clause (as I read) that the supplier can change terms where there is a regulatory change with which it must comply? I think that EON is on firm ground in this instance.
It was good of EON to respond. It would be nice is Ovo was as helpful.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
Yes, my FiTs provider had a clause, who knows, maybe i got lucky.Sterlingtimes wrote: »I do not quite agree Tunnel. malc can you confirm please:
I have no meter measuring my export, but get 50% payment (is that referred to here as deemed?).
Will I continue to get this export addition to my payments from EON?0 -

Yes to your question - currently it is assumed, or correctly termed "deemed", that you will export 50% of your generation.
If you are not at home during the day, then it's likely you'll export more than this.
As long as you don't have an export meter or smart meter, then yes you should continue to receive the deemed part of the FiT in addition to the generation element.
Unless the government drastically changes the FiT rules is another possibility!4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.

Having read the new terms and conditions from Eon I was concerned what they were stopping was the additional fee for export altogether UNLESS you had an export meter fitted.0 -

If they did that they'd suddenly find their FiT team had an awful lot less to do?

Leaving aside the point Tunnel makes I do think it is unacceptable to simply send a revised document of any sort to customers without also setting out the differences. I did read the booklet in its entirety but without digging out the original and doing the same could not spot anything obvious.
I have praised E.ON on here before about their operation of the FITs but this is not their finest moment.
Thanks for this feedback pinnks. I'll send it on to the people who put the documents together. The intention was to keep customers up to date with certain changes in the guidance we've received from industry regulators. Sorry we've failed to do this for you this time but, going forward, feedback of this type will help us improve.

Hi Seanymph
Just to confirm theboylard's post, the 50% payment you're receiving at the moment is what we call 'deemed.' One of the purposes of the document we've sent is to let you know this percentage could change. The Government has reserved the right to do this. As above, it's set by the Secretary of State and any alterations are published no less than 1 month before the beginning of each FIT year (beginning 1 April).
Currently, only customers with an installed capacity of more than 30 kW need to have an export meter to measure the amount of electricity fed into the grid. For those with 30 kW capacity or below, an export meter is optional.
Not aware of any proposed changes at the moment Seanymph. Hope this makes things a little clearer but let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.

Malc,
I think you hit the nail on the head - you are doing no more than conveying guidance, so how can you imply that continued receipt of FiT payments amounts to acceptance of fundamental changes to a government subsidy?
I got a letter today which suggests the only changes related to the use of email (basically irrelevant) and changing to deemed export at a percentage from a fixed export tariff at 50%. If, and it's a big if, a scheme administrator has the right to change fundamentals of a scheme they are administering on behalf of the government, this is a change of such potential magnitude that I would think it would require contract renegotiation. Nothing turns on that at the moment but these are bullying tactics from E.ON.
When I signed up for my FiT I was asked to confirm that I had reviewed E.ON's statement of terms and that I accepted the plan details. The latest booklet is badged as T&C and bears no resemblance to the original one page statement of terms. The language is totally different as are the definitions and overall content. And, at the end of the day I would imagine the actual agreement to receive payment is with the government, not the administrators.
Come E.ON, get back to acting responsibly in your role of administrator. I have been really impressed until this point but am now disappointed and annoyed...0 -
Deemed Export
This clause will only apply if you notify us that you want to receive payments for electricity exported to the
Electricity Network and do not have an Export Meter fitted.
Of COURSE I want to still get my additional bit for export - do I have to call and tell them?0
