    I think we are in agreement - but education means telling people things accurately.

    And if HMRC are writing to people just saying it doesn't apply or it is 'not valid' that is misleading. If you had explained it as I have - that yes it does apply to tax credits but doesn't apply in their situation because xxxx then that might be more helpful.

    I don't envy the job you have to do at all, it can't be easy.

    All Government departments work on the basis.... that the law of the land only applies when it suits them, when its against them, carry on regardless, hey we cut legal aid so **** em.
