It won't hide matching searches. For a start that's stupidly complex unless it's filtered on a certain criteria.
It's probably set up to search on your criteria and theirs, which could omit results. For expample if they state 'no smokers' then if you smoke that could mean they do not show on your search. See also answers to relationship status/age criteria/children etc. The chances are something on your profile conflicts with theirs, which is why they don't show on your search.
See fozziebeartoo's example. I'd bet her partner had a filter set that only matched with people looking for a relationship.0 -

I met my boyfriend on POF. He didn't come up on my search results because of the age limit he'd set for people contacting him (I was too old:rotfl:). POF does seem quite sensitive to the search criteria that you use.0 -
You just need to think of the logic of what it's doing.
It's searching a database for matches based on a set criteria. If you don't meet that search criteria for any reason, age/location/status/children/smoker etc, it will exclude you from the search. All it's doing is returning those results that meet the criteria.
It's not a human. It's code. It's not going to start throwing up matches outside that criteria as it thinks you might get on! :rotfl:0 -
I don't understand you?
Single male, 30s, non smoker loking for a relationship.
You can't specify specifics such as build, height, race etc from contact (only intimate counter or not, no picture, distance etc).
Again, messaged someone today who replied back. They met my criteria and happened to be online but not in my search?
Some people think 67 both times was a coincidence :rotfl: I live in a huge city and am target age group. No kids, have a photo, degree, non smoker, looking for a rship. Sorry but there are more than a few dozen out there on the world's biggest free site.
As the other poster said - their partner DID NOT show up in her searches.
I maintain : pof does not give you all searches that match criteria and is a con.0 -
Okcupid and oasis are other free sites you could try OP
Sounds like something fishy's going on with the site you're currently using *gets coat*0 -
I found okc questions tiresome and irrelevant and that people actually got on with people who had a low match rating. Maybe I'll give it another go and be patient. Had matches that I wasn't really interested in.
Never heard of oasis bit will look into it0 -

Then there must be a reason why they didn't appear in your search. Possibly something they have set in their criteria.
Search engines are simple beasts at heart. They return results based on a very specific set of instructions. If for any reason the criteria isn't made it will omit that result. At no point is it becoming Deep Thought and deciding that Dave123 isn't for you.0 -
I don't know anything about the search functions but I do know this website has a reputation for not being a serious dating site. Ie not really for finding that special someone - more for finding someone for a Saturday night if you get my drift.......0
