Oh my goodness. Most stressful time ever at work is almost over (hopefully), and plenty of overtime to show for it.

The paperwork finally came through Runders - they told me over the phone but it's now confirmed, our end date is now February 2046 instead of June 2046 (good god that year is scary). I've stashed some money away in my emergency fund and the overtime next month will go straight to savings again. It feels good, like I'm finally taking control and not just going with the flow and being washed away.

No unbudgeted spend August is going ok - I did buy a drink and snack on Saturday but I hadn't eaten all day and kept the spend to the minimum. I went to the gym on Sunday and remembered to take a water bottle so no spend there. Purse stayed at home today, so another win!

So the naughtiness is the gym membership I guess. Gym, swim and classes for £24.99 p/m. Cheapest around! So far this month, I have been to the gym once and been for a swim once, making each activity £12.50. I'm going to keep a running track of the cost so I can keep myself motivated to keep going! My weight has been stable for two weeks, so another two weeks of stability then on to my next weight loss goal :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time
  • Just stopping by to say hello! I have a similar plan in that I have to split money between OP'ing on one mortgage and putting money aside for a new, completely separate one. The deposit fund is the priority though, but I like knowing that I'm SLOWLY chipping away at the other one too.

As a side - I live in the US and bills are ALWAYS split here. If you go to a restaurant and there is 4 in your party, they will bring 4 separate bills at the end. I thought it was really strange to begin with but now I really like it and I enjoy not having to pay for other people food and drinks. :) I'm sure it will take some adjusting when we move back home.
    Deposit Fund = 9754/20,000
    OP Fund (2016) = 250/700

    Hello hello,

Glad to hear that your stressful time at work is over, and Hurrah for the overtime.

2046 is a scary year, but if you keep chipping away that WILL decrease. I don't know how much I've shortened the term of my mortgage by, I should work it out really. I know that my mortgage total is now below where it would have been in sep 2016 if I had only made the repayments :)

I have a confession, I just bought a bottle of Orangina for a sugary hit. So we are on par with the August challenge.

That's a great idea with the gym membership. My weight is balloning at the moment, so I'd better get my backside down the gym and stop throwing my money away!
