My son has a faulty XBox purchased from Tesco last October (keeps sticking etc). He has lost the receipt. We can't prove purchase as it was paid for partly by a gift card & partly with his debit card - so the amount on his bank statement doesn't match the cost of the item.
Do XBoxes have a serial no. which would prove it's age & if so where can we get it checked? Also he has been using it online since it was purchased so I'm assuming there is a record of this somewhere with Microsoft?
If anyone can give me advice on this I would be grateful. Thanks.

I read on here a while back with a faulty {I believe} item got from Argos and needed to be returned but no receipt. The advise given from one poster was to take a bank statement along as from that the date should be able to be verified and although I never saw the outcome you MAY be able to do the same at Tesco {stating that it was part debit/ part voucher} and see if their records can agree with the sale {I somehow do not think that unless they were doing a deal many would have been sold on that date from that branch. The one problem I do see is that many state that with faulty goods it is up to the person to prove the fault was there from the start after 6 months so you could have problems on that side as it is now past that time.0

You did register the warranty didn't you after it was purchased? This would have the serial number on it - in that you normally have to input the serial number when registering. Tesco can surely take this as proof of date of purchase.0

Log into xbox live on a computer, click on repairs, choose your device (register it first with seriel number if needed), then click on the option that best describes your problem.
You will then be able to print out a postage label and have it collected by UPS.
Microsoft will fix or replace it for free
