Kitchen chimney hood extractor fan not working!

Hello there
The chimney hood extractor fan in my kitchen has stopped working. It was gradually slowed down in speed and eventually stopped. There is electricity supply.

can I clean the motor and fan to make it work?
or can I just replace the fan and motor
or should i replace the whole chimney hood??

any help would be greatly appreciated?

thanks
Sarathi

hi, i was seeing those and it is cheaper to get a new hood with motor rather than the motor itself! as the later works out cheaper than getting the motor iteself!

There may be a loose electrical connection, that is the unit has an electric lead - it may have came adrift from the connector that is wired into the power supply.

It points to being bunged up with debris (grease/dust mixture) if it has gradually become slower but then maybe it stopped because the motor gave out due to the increased load. You say there is electricity supply - where - at the motor connections? If you do decide to clean it, make sure you disconnect it first, you wouldn't want it starting up with your hands in the fan. Apologies if you would have done that anyway but better safe than sorry.
