My android stuck on home screen...please help

Options
Hi all, I need some help. My old orange san francisco mobile which I rooted years ago with a rom called swedish spring (I think) will not go pass the screen shown in the image below.

The 2 slide buttons on bottom left and right of screen (screen lock and ???) will not move they are non responsive. I have taken the battery out and restarted a few times. Trying hold the volume button up/down as I power on but it just reverts back to this non responsive screen. Any advice or tips how I get pass this and reset my phone back to factory (orange) settings so I can give it to a friend. Or its for the bin....See picture in link below

Try power on with menu & vol+ held

If its totally non responsive in that there is no visible or audible sign its even seen a 'touch' then its probably a hardware fault, something like the digitzer failed or the ribbon connector to it has come out from the circuit board.

Sometimes a digitzer can become unresponsive just from a lump of dirt stuck to it (seems to fail some sort of self test or calibration at boot up) Try polishing the screen spotless with screen wipe and rebooting.

Otherwise the bin. It was a decent phone and ROM in its day, I ran one the same but a newer even £40 phone will seem like a supercomputer in comparison.
