I still have a Canon N650U scanner attached to a Windows 7 PC. When I upgraded the PC from XP in 2013 it was a nightmare to get it to accept the driver for the scanner, which is specified only up to XP. But is OK now.
Same PC has an HP Deskjet 5400 series printer. Under Windows 7 I lost all the utility functions such has head-cleaning, ink level checks and so on.
The Windows 10 pre-release checking software has announced that the PC is is ripe and ready for Windows 10.
Will Windows 10 work OK with these old devices?

Anybodies guess but don't hold your breath as manufacturers see a new windows version as an opportunity to flog you new gear rather than update drivers.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

What he said ^^^^^
I was similar with my old epson flatbed scanner, the vista driver worked with 32-bit W7, but not with 64-bit......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Depends on how similar the underlying printing/scanning architecture is on Windows 10 to 7/8.
Many manufactures got caught with the jump to Vista/Windows, particularly as to get drivers certified for those OS's you had to support 64-bit, which hadn't been the case previously. They could get around that by not certifying the driver, which is how you ended up with some 32-bit only driver support. There was also a huge shift in how those drivers worked going from XP to Vista.
I wouldn't count on day one support for Windows 10. I'd hold off until it's been released and then check the devices manufacturers website to see if the have Windows 10 drivers listed for your device.0 -
Most Windows 8.1 drivers will work fine on Windows 10poppy100

mmm , latest intel NUC with the i3-5010U and the Intel HD Graphics 5500 has not had a graphics driver written yet for win 10 , now forget the "small players" (cannon , brother etc) but when INTEL cant make or produce a driver that works , within 31 days of its release , and after having evaluation copies for god knows how long , what chance has "joe public" got!0

The n650 scanner works without problem on 8.1 so there is hope for win 10.0

Intel don't need to create a new Win10 driver, they just need to stop blocking their current driver from running on newer Windows versions (they are doing this deliberately as a policy choice to stop their software from running on a pre-release OS, rather than for any technical reasons)poppy100 -
The Windows 8.1 driver works fine. Unfortunately Intel are deliberately blocking it from installing on Windows 10 so you have to edit the .ini file and then allow Windows to install unsigned drivers to force it to install, but once you have then it runs perfectly.

Did you try that before editing the .INI?0 -

so , are the correct drivers going to be on intel's website on july 29th?
the CPU used in the new nuc ( i3-5010U ) is a perfect CPU for manufacturers to use in new laptops0
