Mis-selling of Richer Sounds 5 year tv warranties

Options
5 years ago I bought a tv from Richer sounds as they were doing a good price on a tv I wanted. Whats not to like, Informative staff, great prices, great company, but then I was asked to buy a 5 year warranty to cover the tv and was specifically told that if i never had to use the warranty in its 5 year length then i could get a refund at the end of the term. Sounded like a "no brainer" [their tag line, not mine]. I mean I trust these guys - I've bought various hi-fi items over the years since 1980, so how CHEESED off was i when I went to their Holborn store only to be told "oh, thats only with the super care policy and we never did that for tv's".

SO WHY WAS I MIS-SOLD THE EXTENDED GUARANTEE IN THE FIRST PLACE? the store is small, so I am certain other members of staff overheard but said nothing! Sales targets, and cheeky mis-selling doth not a great company do. I have since been in touch with Richer Sounds 'customer care' but its been a one way street. Smells like guilt is written all over their faces. Come on Richer Sounds, man up. I have since done some detective work on google and hey presto, I am not the only 'sucker' who bought into this mis-selling malarkey.

No wonder they now offer a 6 year free and inclusive warranty.

I await a response, but not from one of their mse robots

I was sorry to read your thread relating to the extended guarantee you bought from ourselves and offer my apologies.

The 5 year TV guarantee has never been refundable so I'm at somewhat of a loss to explain what you were told at the time of purchase!

Obviously we take such issues extremely seriously so in order that I may investigate further and attempt to resolve the matter please would you contact me via the below e-mail address with some more details?

Once again, I offer my apologies, I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Many Thanks

We always use Richer Sounds who giva a great srvice, never heard of a refundable guarantee but you would have had the paperwork so it would have stated that......after all it would not have taken 5 years to read it, surely ?.
