ParkingEye - now on to POPLA appeal stage

Dear MSE,

Anyone else had trouble submitting an online appeal to ParkingEye via their "submit appeal" page?

I've made several attempts but received an "Error message: failed to manage appeal" response every time -not helped by the entire ParkingEye site being a series of error messages last night. All errors on individual lines already fixed and no error messages elsewhere in the form.

Not a disaster - there's still the postal option - but this is an annoying waste of time, courtesy of PE, already... :)

Thanks,

D

Post + Certificate of postage and use the template appeal so they know you are going to go all the way to POPLA.
Ignore the advice about certificate of postage at your peril, I think it is more than fair to say what we have seen the last few weeks that now they have county court judges firmly tucked in their top pockets, they are and will do as they like.

Does your appeal exceed the maximum number of characters allowed in the PE portal? That does cause problems. The workaround is to just put the bullet points of your appeal in the dialogue box, and say 'Please see full appeal attached', save your full appeal as a Word doc or .pdf file, and attach it.

Hope that works. If not snail mail it, but make sure you get a free 'Certificate of Posting' from your Post Office counter (don't just whack it in the post box). You do need to get the CoP - many before you have regretted not doing so.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I am also about to submit an Appeal. Does this first response have to include all the points one could include in the appeal, or could it just include the main ones. i.e. In my case, the two main grounds are inadequate signage and disproprtionate sum (GPEOC)

oN THE TEMPLATE LETTER, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FIRST TWO BULLET POINT: (A) DISPROPROTIONATE SUM... AND (B) eXTRAVAGANT SUM... ? (Sorry for shouting)

You can put pretty much anything in your initial appeal as long as it's clear you are appealing. The POPLA appeal can be completely different.

Start any appeal with the words :

Served notice of appeal to parking charge notice : POFA 2012

You should add this question to your original thread, not on someone else's.

To answer your question, use ALL the appeal points. They have been produced by someone with much more experience than thee or I.

Thanks, everyone. No risk of ParkingEye claiming not to have received it, despite a Certificate of Posting? I was going to send it recorded but that runs the risk of PE's receptionist refusing to accept the appeal...

I had no trouble submitting Parking Eye appeals over the last couple of days although Parking Eye are having periodically a number of IT issues recently; they have been changing their systems. IIRC There were delays a few weeks ago and though they deny it, Parking Eye may have experienced a DDOS attack.

I would suggest the OP tries again .

One common problem for errors in submitting appeals are either incorrectly typed parking charge reference numbers or vehicle registration numbers the numerical 0 mixed up with letter O for example.

Parking Eye's website allows for 3000 characters - the template appeal (full version) exceeds that limit though this can be uploaded as PDF evidence.

Ta, both. Update: the same appeal went through their website OK late last night (with no amendments c/w the previous attempt) so it looks like a problem with PE's website - either DDOS or just shoddy coding...

Next question: I have a screen grab of the "appeal received" message from PE but no reference number or unique identifier. Safe to rely on this as proof of appeal submission, or shall I post it to them anyway?
