Underwriter question

Just out if curiosity, when taking out IP or LI cover, is a consent form issued by the underwriter, obligatory for signing, in order they can access my medical record
Nothing to hide, however, I prefer to keep my personal information, just that, personal

If the underwriter wants to access your medical records (i.e. request a report from your GP) and you don't consent to this, you won't be offered any cover. So no, it's not obligatory to give consent but if you don't you won't get the policy you applied for.0
