My account has only been fully operational this week and I applied at the end of June. It has to be the slowest account opening that I've ever experienced.
I've paid in the £1750 to make sure it was in before end of August but sounds like it might not be calendar months. I've also no idea when my account was officially opened as there doesn't seem to be anything that gives a date.
Switch all arranged by that won't be complete until mid Sept now.
If it wasn't for the £120 then I'd have given up long before now.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

The earliest i can view statements online is from 17 July onwards so i think that might be my account opening date. But you are right it seems to not be calender months.0 -
I've always had a HSBC Account (one of my first accounts), but due to lack of incentives I've really not used it. This was until they brought out the Advance account benefits + Loyalty ISA and unfortunately this also coincided with my Account being downgraded to a Basic Account. This was back in June.
Now I earn more than enough to satisfy the l£1750 condition, but I found converting from a Basic to an Advance was longer than I'd have hoped. I first had to arrange a meeting with the bank to get them to upgrade it to a current account, and then get it upgraded further to a Advance account... only the fact that I hadn't actually been using the account for soo long now, meant that they had no proof that I'd use the account.
I had to have may pay come in for two months (starting from July), and then I phoned them up again just this Tuesday gone and got them to change it over to an advance account (I was very aware that I wouldn't get the £10 a month "interest" payment into my ISA unless I completed this all before the end of August).
Then, on Tuesday I was told, I can get the account... I just have to show proof of Income at a branch. So unfortunately I had to go into branch on Thursday, pass them my payslips, have them take copies, and they then converted it to an Advance Account, and at the same time my ISA was converted from a Loyalty ISA to an Loyalty Advanced ISA.
Looking forward to start earning my £10 monthly extra interest on my ISA, as well as the additional 0.1% of my balance...
I think as an existing customer, it would have been quicker - had I actually been using it, but until now, I've had no incentive to do so!0 -
When I switched my Barclays accounts was a little over £500 overdrawn, however when my account was switched this didn't seem to transfer over to HSBC and my new advance account just started at £0.
It's been around 6 weeks since the switch and the only correspondence I received from Barclays was a confirmation letter that my account has been transferred.
Does anyone have and idea when Barclays might want their money?0 -

From their T&Cs:Until you repay us in full, we’ll charge the daily fees, other fees and charges stated in the tariff and may apply additional conditions before and after any court order telling you to repay0 -
I opened the ISA online today and got the account number and also managed to put £1750 into and out of the account which should count for August. My standing order of £25pm is now set up from my main account elsewhere and all that remains to do is call up and instigate the switch from my donor Yorkshire Bank account.0

I would be interested if anyone has put in external ISA transfer of £300 lump sum and once they have received their incentive of £10 taken £299 out, have they still received the £10 the following months? I intend to do that, but unsure if incentive will be given out.
Does £1 have to be left to keep the ISA open?0 -

Today I received a much larger package which is actually called a Welcome Pack. Received my Secure Key today too. 58 days after applying. Is that a record?0 -
Mrs B needs a secure key as she has no Smart phone.
(I have a smart phone but the app cannot be used for more than one person.)
How long does it take to arrive?
I (she:cool:) tx'd £1750 into her account 31st Aug JIC it was needed for the qualifying (this application has been so inconsistent I was not taking any chances)and now I cannot transfer it back so it can earn 3% interest as opposed to NIL in HSBC.
If the key doesn't arrived today I'll (she''ll) be down the local branch drawing out the maximum cash from the ATm then depositing it in Santander down the street.
What a complete farce, I've earned this £480 :cool:0 -

You can collect a Secure Key from any HSBC branch.0
