HSBC's New £120 Switch Offer

So the old cash ISA was eventually closed.
Everything is set now, one more month of salary in, and a £300 lump sum to the ISA... so looking forward to getting the £240. I decided to use HSBC as my main bills account and use my old Barclays for shopping, as the Barclays one only requires £800 in monthly to get the blue rewards.0 -
OH received the second switching pack yesterday lunchtime, and a call from HSBC about 1 hour later, so his switch is now under way and will be completed August 27th.
Today the original switching pack, dated 11th August, arrived.
Hopefully everything will go OK now!0 -
Switch (from Nwide) scheduled for today appears to have occurred seamlessly. Account now showing in internet banking, with all payments correctly transferred. Loyalty ISA also now opened (with £300 transferred from a prior year). Just need to await incentive payments now...0

Didnt know they were doing this but had a letter today dated 17th August telling me that I had 'qualified' for the 'Save together' first free tenner. (First £25 was transferred into ISA on 3rd July and also second £25 on 3rd August)
Nice to have the confirmation, but to repeat an earlier enquiry of mine in PRACTICE is there any pattern, number of days after first deposit, or similar, when the payments are made? (obviously its not there yet....)
BTW I do know what the Ts and Cs state, just looking for real examples.....0 -
Well eventually everything is sorted:j Bank account opened, 2 ISA's opened and account switched. received confirmation of successful switch this week and yesterday received confirmation of the £10 ISA bonuses to be paid into the ISA's. Just waiting for the switch bonus to land now, but from application to now has taken just over 7 weeks.
ISA's were opened on 18th July with a £300 deposit in each the same day the bank account was verified in branch.0 -
Just a quick update. I tried phoning HSBC again to see if I could re-apply by phone once the 28 days from the date I got the referral letter expired. I got the run-around something chronic. I phoned on the Sunday night and was told I would need to phone in the morning so that someone could speak to the credit team on my behalf to over rule the last decision.
I phoned the next day only to be told that there was nothing they could do and the decision stood. He did provide some useful information though in that the woman who spoke to me in the branch was talking garbage (not his exact words!) when she said that transfers from other personal banks did not count towards the £1,750. I tried again and got a different adviser who said yes you can start a new application but it would take about 45 minutes. I was nearly ready to start work so I didn't have time so phoned back later.
The woman I spoke to then said I could not apply again and I ended up asking to speak to a manager who contradicted her but warned that the decision would be the same even though I had been told previously that operators on the phone have the discretion to give a different decision. Tried applying again by phone later but was rejected again.
So I decided to complain using the MSE resolver service. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I heard something back. The day after I complained, I got an acknowledgement letter and the next day I got a phone call from a very nice woman who said she could not reply to me by email because of security but was sending me a letter (which arrived the next day) together with a £50 cheque for all the wasted time and effort. :T
She indicated that there was a chance that, if I keep the bank account for a few months, they will review and let me know if I can upgrade. If I can and it is still ongoing, I can take advantage of the Save Together offer and get the 6% regular saver. I miss out on the £120 switching bonus but the £50 compensation softened that particular blow. :rotfl:0 -
An update from me. The switch from my redundant Clydesdale account completed yesterday. I applied online but finished it up in branch which was seamless. Applied for ISA, regular saver and credit card then balance transferred money onto the credit card for 0% interest for 34 months. I just need to put the required money in each month now. I'm a very happy bunny.
When I was sorting out the switch, the member of staff mentioned that the telephones were swamped because Martin Lewis had mentioned the account on his website. I just said that I've heard of the guy but didn't know anything about his website.Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -

My qualifying (lump sum) was paid in on 9th March. Save together £10 credited as follows:
27th April
15th May
12th June
20th July
13th August
so no (to me) discernible pattern :cool:0 -

Did you get £25 for getting the credit card? I read on here this was offered to a few people.
To give HSBC their due, anytime I phoned (using the 0800 number), I got through quickly.0
