HSBC's New £120 Switch Offer

The saga is almost complete. Received thick wodge of paperwork about the switch in the post - all of which just repeated everything I'd already signed and agreed online, and they'd already told me on the phone when I requested the switch.
Had to ring AGAIN to confirm the switch. Which required them to repeat everything in the letter to me once again over the phone. Switch now pushed back to 21 August. That's pretty much 2 months to the day that I applied... Thought CASS was supposed to make things quicker and smooether!0 -
Finally received my bank card so it looks like it's all getting there. only taken nearly 6 weeks.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Like Beef, I called yesterday to finalise the switching and after half an hour on the phone, I was given 26th August as the switch date and asked to call them again next week after I (hopefully) received the pack on the post. I set up two s/o from the account I am closing (The Co-op, dormant since December, but with some movement in the last couple of weeks and cash in it) but they didn't ask any questions about where the £1750 is going to come from (Natwest, where my salary goes) so I didn't say anything or mentioned the switching incentive.
Last week I went to pick up my debit card from branch and it turns out... it was destroyed by a member of staff!! I got £20 in compensation for wasting my time, so not too bad.
I have to say, it has been laborious and th amount of paperwork Nd security unnecessarily time-consuming but my experice has been better than most. I now have the Isa, the advance account and the credit card, so hopefully I will get those £££ at some point...0 -
I've got a switch of Aug 26th as well (I applied on the first day of the offer, June 29th). Like the recent posters, I had no questions about the account that was being switched other than identifying info. My switching account is a natwest account I set up recently and performed no other transactions than depositing £10 last week.
If anyone reading this is about to start the process of applying for the incentive cashback, I would definitely do it in two parts (apply, then switch) rather than in part (switch during application process).0 -
I was actually told (over the phone application) that I needed to open the a/c before I could start the switch process.
And as I have said before, if you are in a position to spend an hour at a local branch it greatly speeds things up as you don't have to wait for paperwork to arrive in the post or be sent back- it can be done instantly.
My switch took 8 days from signing the paperwork.
My credit card application signed on the monday- was on the doormat by saturday (may have been there earlier but I was away.)
I think where ever and whoever deals with the paperwork from online and telephone applications is just plain overwhelmed by the volume!- in branch they don't have those pressures.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I transferred my cash ISA from First Direct to HSBC to get the £10 loyalty bonus. Do they close my FD cash ISA automatically after they do the transfer? Thanks.0

My heart sank yesterday morning when I opened a letter from HSBC saying that telephone banking had been locked due to my failing security on a 'recent phone call' (I hadn't), meaning I needed to re-fill in a form and wait 5-7 days for a new telephone banking code....
However, when I rung them to query, the CS agent was as confused as I was, becasue I quote "If my account had been locked they wouldn't be talking to me now!". I said I'll just ignore the letter then and they agreed they didn't know what else to suggest. Clearly HSBC systems are creaking with all the new applications!0
